As of 9:00 pm, the evacuation order for the communities of Bridge Hollow and Promontory has been lifted and those residents are now allowed to return home. However, the evacuation of 110 homes in Rockport Estates and Rockport Ranches remains in place due to the concern for public safety and potential fire activity. Fire officials will re-evaluate that evacuation order tomorrow evening.
There was no growth in the fire perimeter at present and the acreage burned remains at 1,920. The firefighters took advantage of the moderate fire conditions today and made significant progress on suppressing the fire that is now 50% contained. The containment area consists of Promontory and Bridge Hollow. Fire officials are confident these areas are safe for residents to return to.
A mission was conducted today to locate the properties destroyed during this incident. In Rockport Ranches, two (2) residences and one (1) yurt were confirmed as burnt and considered a total loss. In Rockport Estates, five (5) residences were confirmed as burnt and considered a total loss.
The concern for fire officials are the green islands of vegetation within the community of Rockport Estates and Rockport Ranches where embers and hot spots still have the potential to heat up over the next few days. An infrared helicopter flight will take place tonight to identify the areas that the firefighters will focus on over the next 24 hours.
